What A Beautiful Day

well it's a mighty fine spring day
and the breeze is whispering all the things to say
my hands spread each and every way
thinkin' to myself, what a real nice day
well the birds and cars are singing to same tune
we've parted ways with the darkness for a better view
and my feet are ringing right in my shoes
if i could choose, what a beautiful day

Seven

i've witnessed seven different crimes
i've flipped the same coin seven different times
saw some kids burn down the maple tree
in your front yard
we spilt bruised stories just to get this far
but overcome by guilt i will run up that hill
overcome by guilt i will, i will, i will
seven times seven is seventy-seven
you ain't the one to get you to heaven
caught up in words we forget what they mean
drinking in the pride to come out with misery
i saw a vulture circling our beloved family tree
and from the ground a dying whitetail cries out to me,
"i'm tired of breathing in this noxious gas, i'm tired
of waiting for nothing to pass."
seven times seven is seventy-seven
you ain't the one to get you to heaven
i've witnessed seven different crimes
i've flipped the same coin seven different times
went out and bought a gun off the street
from a man who had holes in his teeth
lackluster inside came out with my deeds
it feels like poison every time i breathe
seven times seven is seventy-seven
you ain't the one to get you to heaven

well if the weather is all right, we'll stay all night
i like chaos and they hate us
i bought a can of soda to keep me sober and
then picked from the grass a four-leaf clover
listened to the signs, thought them over
i am missing something
strange how my brain works when i don't want it to
but i send you a text, "we should catch up" only cause i could use
the touch of another human being and i love the lingering taste
smoking cigarettes next to gunpowder at the
neglectful idea shop i'm tired of january rain
if i wanna be out, i'll be out

you are an enigma machine
you won't ever say what you mean
its no surprise,
you imposter, you snake
never had a clue and
i'm much too tired of being human
you are a lighthouse bartending the sea
you operate in different boundaries
it makes my head hurt to see you
drank up a whole ocean just to be you
i am the sound you missed
until you couldn't remember where it came from
the same sound you ran from
sounds like a muffled whisper now
drifting asleep at the wheel
the space between my brain and mouth is filled with steel
you are a lighthouse bartending the sea
you operate in different boundaries
it makes my head hurt to see you
drank up a whole ocean just to be you

Whipping Boy
03:40
|
|||
i'm a tree in a forest
the other trees are my friends
and if they all burn down
well it's a means to an end
i'm a wolf in a nightgown
depending on how tight i'm wound
i got a drink of water and
accidentally drowned
i forgot how to find joy in a temporal prison
i didn't peel the blisters from my hands
ignored my incision
guess it depends
on which awkward thing you say
i'm a dog chewing on grass
picking up trash and throwing it back
it doesn't matter what you say
we're all the same
little snowflakes
some drop quicker hit the ground
and break
the things i do and say
are not the same i know
and it seems like a fallacy
my honesty is wasted so callously
who will you blame this time?
self-medication
is digesting all my joys
i'm losing my poise
and my words are so coy
thoughtless and fruitless
like a whipping boy
it doesn't matter what you say it doesn't matter
